Post Castrol oil

Does anyone know what the difference is between Castrol power rs racing 4t 5w-40 & Castrol power 1 racing oil 5w-40 ?? Both are full synthetic JAS MA-2, API SL. BMW recommends power 1 racing I can't find a difference and want to double check

Mike:

I think the Power 1 is not available in the US. In the US it is the Power RS oil.

Take a look at this link.

Re: Castrol oil

Don't know a whole lot about oil but was told the 4T component is critical for a wet clutch system...I'm using the Castrol product: Racing RS 4T 5w40, it saves a few $$.

Re: Castrol oil

I read somewhere on here that the T6 was compliant with the bmw specs on th k1300 not sure if they are more severe on the 1600.

Re: Castrol oil

I've used Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 synthetic it has worked great for me and as a bonus it's cheap about $22 a gallon at Walmart. Oh and it's JASO MA2 rated, I put over 30k on my K1200S, 10k on my K1300GT and I'm running Rotella in my K1600GT so I have a little experience with it. Some people seem to have an issue because Rotella T6 is marketed to truckers for diesel trucks but it has the correct rating and I believe it's the same oil that BMW sells. A couple of years ago I tried searching for a motorcycle specific 5W-40 JASO MA2 certified oil on Shell's website and came up with nothing, I have not looked today but at that time none of there Shell branded motorcycle specific oils are available in 5W-40. Now unless you believe Shell makes two different 5W-40 JASO MA2 certified oils, Rotella T6 marketed to truckers and a different 5W-40 JASO MA2 oil produced bottled and sold only to BMW you have to wonder what's in the BMW bottle don't you.
